Dua Lipa Says She's 'Trying To Cover All Grounds' On Her Next Album

With the upcoming Grammy Awards looming ahead, Dua Lipa told Rolling Stone that she's really proud to be accompanied by so many other women in the Best New Artist category. As per the interview, the 23-year-old has learned that part of her success boils down to being honest and speaking her truth, a rule that will no doubt be covered on her sophomore effort.

"That carries on in the second album," she told the magazine of the LP, which might feature an Outkast influence. "It's me trying to cover all the ground, all of my feelings. Some days are happy and all you want to do is write a song about that. And other days…you know. Things don’t go how you want them do – but it’s such great inspiration for music."

While the British chart-topper called the balance a "silver lining" to her artistic process, that's not to say that she has it all figured out. "I guess I’m quite good at hitting all the low notes – I’m still figuring out how to reach the higher ones," she continued.

In the meantime, fans can savor on "Swan Song," her upcoming track for Twentieth Century Fox's new action-adventure film Alita: Battle Angel. According to a December post from the singer, the track was co-written by Justin Tranter, Kennedi Lykken, Mattias Larsson, Robin Fredriksson, and Tom Holkenborg also known as Junkie XL. "From the moment we saw her video for 'New Rules,' we knew that Dua Lipa would be the perfect artist to do a song for Alita: Battle Angel," the film's producer, Jon Landau, previously said. "She has the kick-ass strength, power, and attitude in her performances that Alita embodies in the movie. Jim, Robert and I are thrilled to have her onboard and are confident she will make ‘Swan Song’ the perfect inspiring and empowering anthem for our film."
