'Jeopardy!' Champ Promoted His New ABC Show The Day After Winning

Jeopardy! saw Michael Colton, the co-creator of ABC's upcoming comedy, Home Economics, score a win on Thursday (February 25).

During Colton's appearance at a Television Critics Association Panel on Friday, Colton, spoke about the victory, which saw him take home $9,201. "Thank you for bringing this up. I was a little annoyed that none of the people before you brought it up," he said when a reporter addressed him as "current reigning 'Jeopardy!' champion Michael Colton. "We’ll do a separate breakout TCA session later just to talk about it."

Colton taped the episode months ago and it was followed by a second victory on Friday when he went into Final Jeopardy and won by $3 dollars. He is scheduled to return this week after a two-night winning total of $17,603.

Colton chimed in on his appearance via Twitter when he purposely made a reference to Wheel of Fortune instead of Jeopardy! "Keep an eye out for the embarrassing moment when I tried to buy a vowel!" he wrote. "Some backstory: I was originally supposed to tape November 9. Alex Trebek died November 8. It was crushing to find out I wouldn't be able to share the stage with the Greatest Host of All Time. But Mike Richards did a fantastic job guest-hosting, and I had a blast and won like $18 million, don’t remember how much exactly."

Executive producer Mike Richards is scheduled to continue his hosting duties until March 5. Afterward, Katie Couric will host episodes airing March 8 - March 19. Meanwhile, Home Economics, which stars Topher Grace, Caitlin McGee, Jimmy Tatro, Karla Souza and Sasheer Zamata, premieres April 7 at 8:30 PM ET.
