Dan + Shay reveal “a real-time snapshot of exactly where we are in our lives,” with the duo’s newest studio album.
Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney announced on Thursday morning (May 14) that their upcoming project, Young, will arrive over the summer. The title track will be available at midnight ET/11 p.m. CT. Dan + Shay wrote in a caption on Instagram: “This is by far our most personal album yet, and gives a real-time snapshot of exactly where we are in our lives. …From the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much for your patience and support while we made YOUNG. We’ve never been more proud of a batch of songs, and hope they mean as much to you as they do to us.”
Smyers added in a comment, “promise this is our best album yet.” Mooney wrote, “I can’t wait for y’all to hear this.”
Dan + Shay’s latest single made its debut last month. The duo wrote “Say So” with David Hodges and Jimmy Robbins, and Smyers co-produced with Scott Hendricks. “Say So” shared a message about mental health awareness and offering support one another. The song “is a true story about a friend who we lost not long ago, and we hope it offers strength and encouragement to anyone going through a tough time,” Dan + Shay previously said. Since then, they’ve also performed an unreleased ballad with Christian singer-songwriter Brandon Lake.
Smyers and Mooney have been hinting at a new chapter underway. Earlier this month, they shared a collection of photos and videos, and confirmed: “The album is coming!” They revealed on Thursday morning that Young will release on August 21. See Dan + Shay's album announcement here:
