Cody Johnson Reacts To Cover Of His Faith-Fueled Ballad — Watch

Cody Johnson reacted to a cover of one of his songs on American Idol.

Idol contestant Chris Tungseth took the stage with “By Your Grace” during the show’s “Songs of Faith” episode on Monday evening (March 30). Johnson released the faith-fueled ballad on his 2021 record, Human: The Double Album. On Tuesday (March 31), the award-winning artist commented on a clip of Tungseth’s performance shared on American Idol’s Instagram account. Johnson wrote, “all for his glory!!!” Watch the clip below.

The “Songs of Faith” episode also included a performance by judge Carrie Underwood and 2025 platinum ticket winners FiloCanaan James Hill and Kolbi Jordan, in addition to the rest of the Idol contestants. Underwood, who won the show’s fourth season in 2005, returned for her second consecutive year as a judge, alongside Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie.

American Idol airs on ABC on Monday nights from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. ET/PT. It’s available to stream the next day on Hulu.

Bryan is part of the star-studded lineup of the 2026 iHeartCountry Festival.
