Masks Now A Requirement For The City Of Atlanta

Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms has officially signed an ordinance requiring masks in public for the City of Atlanta. Here is her official bill and the rules.

Athens, Savannah and several other Georgia cities have adopted mandatory mask rules. Atlanta just became the latest to sign the ordinance. Mayor Bottoms is fighting COVID-19 herself, as well as, several other family members of hers. She just signed the bill requiring anyone over 10 years old to wear a mask in public, but excluding anyone with a medical in-ability to do so. It also excludes anyone in a motor-vehicle, or while eating or smoking (so feel free to still enjoy the cancer sticks).

Many people are against a mandatory rule for masks, because they believe it violates their freedom and right to decide. Officials site the growing number cases over the past few weeks, some have reached peak levels in certain counties.

Statewide Governor Kemp is "strongly encouraging" wearing a mask but has not put a mandatory rule in place. Kemp actually discouraged local officials from setting a mandate, but instead use resources like social media and advertising to encourage people to make the decision to wear a mask.
